84-year-old patient referred by PCP for medical advice on patient with a history of receiving multiple blood transfusions for multiple surgical procedures. The patient has a history of jaundice over the past few years, etiology unknown. No history of significant alcohol intake and only one drug could implicate Hepatitis which is Aldomet. He has been on this drug for approximately two years. Physical exam revealed liver extended 3 fingerbreadths below his right costal margin and firm. SGOT was elevated. Several repeat blood tests also demonstrated elevated bilirubin. Globulins have been elevated as well. Numbers continue to increase. Hepatitis C, probably due to his transfusion. Due to his age, patient will be watched closely, but immunosuppressive therapy is not recommended. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
