1. Which standard(s) and/or cluster(s) are targeted in this assignment? Are they grade-level standards?
Counting and Cardinality (CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC) and Operations and Algebraic Thinking (CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA) are the standards for this assignment. All these focus on foundational skills related to pre-K mathematics and improvement of students’ comprehension skills.
2. What is the mathematical purpose of the assignment?
The purpose of the assignment is to assess students’ capability of recognizing mathematical concepts like recognizing numbers, counting, addition, and substraction.
3. What aspect(s) of Rigor (conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application) does the assignment address? Explain.
The assignment addresses conceptual understanding by focusing on foundational concepts in mathematics that are counting and basic operations. It ensures use of visual aids and hands-on activities can get done effectively.
After looking at student work:
1. How did the directions and/or prompts for the assignment allow students to demonstrate the requirements of the targeted standard(s)?
Students are able to understand directives since they were given age appropriate instructions which were also clear. It was then possible for them to implement activities like solving simple math problems, recognizing numbers, and counting objects.
2. How did the mathematical content of the assignment allow students to demonstrate the requirements of the targeted standard(s)?
Students were provided with a hands-on process to explore learning content and they also had guided practice, and reinforcement of foundational mathematical concepts.
3. What patterns do you notice in the student work?
● What did students do consistently well?
Students had consistent ability to demonstrate an understanding of basic counting principles and number recognition. They also show proficiency in simple operations such as addition and subtraction within small ranges for numbers.
● Were there any common errors?
Common errors were confusion of the symbols for addition and subtraction as some students could not differentiate between the two.
Another error was because the students will indicate variations in the capability to understand learning content which then caused differences in their skill levels.

What does the student’s work demonstrate about his/her proficiency with the requirements of the targeted standard?
Student A
He accurately counts the bears and correctly identifies the numbers shown on the flashcards.
The student thus demonstrate an understanding of basic counting principles and number recognition.
The student shows proficiency in counting and number recognition
He quickly responds to questions accurately and then displays an advanced ability to independently count objects and identify numbers.
Student B
She struggles to count bears accurately and may require additional support and guidance.
The student still shows effort in attempting to participate in the activities.
The student demonstrates some proficiency with counting and number recognition but needs further reinforcement and practice to improve her skills.
Student C
She shows enthusiasm and actively engages in counting activities.
This then demonstrate an understanding of basic counting principles and attempt to count objects independently.
She shows proficiency with counting and number recognition which displays her major eagerness to participate and a willingness to learn.
Student D
She displays difficulty focusing on class work and may require extra support to stay engaged in the lesson.
However, she shows some understanding of counting and number recognition when asked.
She demonstrates emerging proficiency with counting and number recognition.
Her interest in new content indicates the potential for growth with continued support and reinforcement.
Student E
The student demonstrates strong counting skills and accurately identifies numbers during the activities. This shows that he is confident in his abilities and actively participates in the lesson.
She displays high proficiency with counting and number recognition.
Improvement of her experience is valid to challenge her to perform better.
