PSYC 430 DISCUSSION:DSM DISORDER CRITERIA AND CASE STORY SAMPLE
Step 1: DSM Disorder CriteriaUsing the resource link to access the DSM, provide the DSM criteria for the disorder you choseto research for your upcoming Research Paper Assignment. This should be a direct quote of theDSM criteria (word-for-word). Do not summarize or change the criteria. The directly quotedDSM criteria does not count towards the total minimum word count for this discussionassignment. Cite the DSM in current APA-style.
Step 2: Create your own Case Study Story, 100 words minimum.After reviewing the DSM symptoms, create a fictitious case story. Incorporate the DSMsymptoms into the case story. (The minimum symptoms incorporated into the story would be atleast the number of symptoms indicated in the criteria for a diagnosis). For examples, see thecase studies on various disorders throughout the textbook. If your case story is based on anypersonal experiences (your own or anyone you know), any names should be changed and writtenas fictional. This is to be presented as your own creative, fictitious story incorporating symptomsfrom the DSM criteria. Avoid using exact words and phrases from the DSM criteria. Be creative!No citations are needed for the case study story. *Note: Your Case Study Story must be originaland not used for any other assignment in this course.
Step 3: Journal Discussion, 100 words minimumFind and read 1 scholarly journal article on your chosen disorder that you could use for yourresearch paper, dated within 5 years. The journal should not be the same one used in any otherdiscussion assignment. What 3 main points did you glean from the article? Information should bea summary or analysis of the journal information, paraphrased, and in your own words as todemonstrate understanding. The summary should not include any direct quotes. Use the LUOnline Library to locate journals. 
Step 4: Biblical Application, 50 words minimumHow does the Bible provide insight into an understanding of the disorder? Provide the directquote of the Bible verse or passage discussed.
