He has not had any similar type of symptoms in the past. He denies any recent injuries or other issues. He has a history of coronary artery disease, and underwent bypass surgery 12 years ago. On examination, he has mild 1 edema bilaterally, and the right lower leg and foot are noticeably cooler to touch than the left. He has 2 femoral and popliteal artery pulses and absent dorsalis pedis and posterior tibial pulses. What would be the best plan of care for this patient? Return for ankle-brachial index in the next couple of days. Refer him to the vascular surgeon immediately. Return home, rest, and recheck next week. Educate him for a walking program. Schedule a Doppler ultrasound.
