Liam, a Caucasian male, presents with his father with the chief complaint of diarrhea for the past 3 weeks. Liam is 41-months old and has previously had a benign medical history. Per Dad, the family was vacationing in the Outer Banks recently but seems to recall that symptoms may have started before they left for vacation but the symptoms are worsening. Liam has not been vomiting but has had on average 5-6 liquidy brown stools every day. The stools are without apparent blood or mucous. Liam has not had any “accidents” as he has been able to get to the toilet in time to have the bowel movements. There is no fever but dad is worried that Liam has been sick for so long.
