ou completed the ENGAGE Conover Personal Responsibility map last week. The results showcase areas to develop, strengthen, or enhance. ENGAGE focuses on the following five life skills. Consider what these skills mean to you.
Resiliency
Your capacity to endure hardships, withstand difficulties, and still achieve your desired results. Simply stated, resiliency is a sense of toughness where you recover from setbacks and continue pursuing a goal in the face of obstacles.
Self-Management
The degree to which you manage your individual time, talents, and abilities and focus these on clear objectives. By being fully aware of your strengths as well as your limitations, you can learn to rely on your strengths to help you develop good self-management skills.
Personal Responsibility
Your intuitiveness, reliability, self-discipline, and personal duty to meet your goals. You, and only you, are responsible for setting and achieving your goals. Taking personal responsibility means that you understand that your success is determined entirely by your own actions.
Self-Improvement
Your desire to learn new ways of doing something. Self-improvement is all about making changes in your life, and it starts with an awareness of yourself and your current set of assets and liabilities, combined with a strong desire to change and improve yourself.
Self-Efficacy
Your view of your personal abilities and the extent to which your goals are within your ability to achieve them given your existing knowledge, skills, and environment. Simply stated – Do you believe you can do it? The more you believe in your success, the more successful you become.
You will create a Personal Growth Plan later in this course, and this reaction paper is a steppingstone toward building that growth plan. Use this opportunity to unpack your assessment results and gain a deeper understanding of the concepts and how they apply to your life.
