The research on cultural dimensions dates back over fifty years, but it is ongoing and demonstrates that our overall culture remains fairly consistent depsite that fact that our daily lifestyles differ quite a bit from when the research began. If the overall culture has remained consistent, then it clearly reflects the fact that we are all influenced by these dimensions: inidvidualism, low power distance, low uncertainty avoidance, masculinity, indulgence, low context, etc. However, individuals can differ from the overal culture as well based on their upbringing (for example, you can be a high uncertainty avoidant person or have a collectivistic mindset, etc.). Are there ways in which you feel that you differ from the cultural dimensions associated with the United States? If so, what influences do you think were stronger than the cultural dimensions?
