Digital Marketing Briefing: Social Media Marketing Your Name: Digital Property: Google Date: Objective: The purpose of this briefing is to investigate how your selected publisher (Facebook vs. Google) integrates social media into its products. You can type your answer below each question within this briefing document. Briefings should be completed individually, saved to your computer, and submitted online before the due date. Questions: 1) Social Networks. Describe your publisher’s social networking platform(s): – List all of the “social media sites” and/or apps owned by your publisher. 2) User Generated Content (UGC) on “other” sites. Does your publisher own any other content sites or apps that do not qualify as a “social network?” Do these site(s) offer opportunities for user sharing and community building? – What tools does it use to encourage peer-to-peer interaction? Examples might include “comments” sections adjacent to site content, product ratings/reviews, forums, etc. 3) Third party social networks. Does your publisher have a presence on other social networks? – Overview. If so, identify your social media accounts on other platforms (e.g. Facebook’s and Instagram’s accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube; Google’s accounts on Facebook, Instagram etc.). – Performance. Compare the social media account following between your publisher and their competitor. You can manually compare on your own, or use a “free trial” from social media account tracker tool (ex: keyhole.co, Fanpage Karma). How do your social media profiles fare vs. your direct competitor (Facebook / Instagram accounts vs. Google Accounts)? 4) Reflection. How do you feel your overall understanding of your assigned digital publisher is enhanced by completing this briefing? Did you learn anything you didn’t know about (or think about) before?
