Assignment Directions: Find at least five peer-reviewed journal articles relevant to your research question and write a brief article summary for each. Each summary must include the following information: ( Use the document with the same article information down below)
1. First, an introduction (2-3 sentences) stating the article’s overall purpose. In other words, what was the goal of the study and what did the author(s) seek to accomplish through their research?
2. Second, a brief overview (3-5 sentences) of the previous research discussed in the article. Typically, the author(s) will discuss what past studies have revealed about the topic and whether the current study was designed to fill any specific gap in the existing literature. If yes, what was the gap that it was designed to fill?
3. Third, explain (3-5 sentences) what was/were the main research question(s) or hypothesis/hypotheses of the study? And, if applicable, describe the theoretical and/or conceptual framework(s) that the author(s) applied to studying the topic of interest. You may also include any or all of the following information: What research design did the study utilize? What data collection method was used in the study? What kind of sampling plan did the researchers use for the study? What was the sample size? What was the unit of analysis (the “what” or “who” studied)? And what was/were the independent, dependent, and control (if any) variable(s) used in the study?
4. Lastly, describe (2-3 sentences) the findings of the study and their potential implications for criminal justice policy and practice. In addition, provide your overall thoughts about the study itself (its strengths, weaknesses, and/or directions for future research) and how it relates to your research question specifically.
