Digital Citizenship

    August 1, 2024

Online teaching and learning experiences present unique opportunities and challenges. Practicing digital citizenship helps us make the most of our tools. Digital citizenship is similar but distinct from in-person citizenship. As a technology coach, you will need to be able to help those you work with understand the differences and teach them to their students.
Consider the grade level with which you are most interested in working and imagine that you have been tasked with providing the teachers in the school with a model product outlining how to explain digital citizenship to students in a way that is age appropriate. The model product should be 3-5 minutes in length. You may elect to do an instructional video or narrated digital presentation in the format of your choice.
The model product should address the following:
Safety, health, legal, and ethical issues related to digital citizenship.
Appropriate student communication, cyberbullying, and the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requirements.
Equitable access to digital tools and resources.
Diversity, cultural understanding, global awareness, and collaboration.
Discuss one additional technology trend or issue you think is important in digital citizenship.
Support your model product with a minimum of three scholarly resources and document this support using an annotated bibliography.
