Cyberbullying on Juvenile Mental Health and Well Being

    August 1, 2024

Thank you for your submission. I enjoyed reading your exploration of cyber-bullying’s impacts. There are both short-term and long-term issues that can occur when a youth is cyber-bullied. It is important to consider what can be done to reduce cyber-bullying and help youth who have been cyber-bullied.
With the final work, I recommend polishing the following:
Sociological factors. Expand on your discussion of the long-term impact of cyber-bullying, such as in regards to its psychological impacts, its physical impacts, and its impact on relationships. I recommend researching statistics on the extent of cyber-bullying and its impacts. You bring in the following point: Numerous studies have shown a link between experiences of cyberbullying and lower academic performance (McLoughlin et al., 2022). I recommend discussing a few of them, in regards to what they have to say about cyber-bullying and its academic impact.
Sociological theory. For this work, sociological theory should be explored. Examples that can be looked to are: strain theory, social bond theory, containment theory, or social conflict theory. I do recommend looking to our text for additional theories that you believe are linked to cyber-bullying and its impacts.
Policy reform. What can be done to prevent cyber-bullying, reduce it, and help those who are cyber-bullied? What specific programs can be of help? What specific policy or practices can be of help?
Thesis statement. For the final statement, of the introductory paragraph, include a thesis statement. This statement should be your position/argument on the topic. In writing a thesis statement, words like “the paper will”, should not be included. Here is one resource that can be of help with the thesis statement: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/the_writing_process/thesis_statement_tips.html.
