Why is it important to expand the discussion of environmental issues to people of color and marginalized communities? Given that most lobbying, dialogue, etc. about environmental issues is from upper class, young, and white persons, how is this hurting the cause?

In today’s urban communities, do you feel housing has more to do with class than it does with race? Or, do you feel race is still the biggest determinant for where and what community someone will live in?

What do you see as the biggest failing of the criminal justice system? And, what component of the criminal justice system do you see as the most harmful/dangerous?

Looking at post-incarceration, describe any consequences you see that follow an individual (and does it vary by race). What do you think can be done to help with transitions from prison to release?

In wrapping up the class, write about where/what you see as the biggest issue facing racial and ethnic minorities. Do different groups have different issues to confront? Do you believe solutions are possible or will we still be talking about discrimination and microaggressions in another 200 years?
