AACN Essentials Self-Assessment
Purpose
The purpose of this Collaboration Café is to reflect on a self-assessment of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) informatics competencies.
Course Outcomes
This Collaboration Café enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:
CO 1: Discuss the theoretical foundations, competencies, professional organizations, and roles related to nursing informatics. (POs 1, 5, 7)
CO 5: Apply ethical, legal, regulatory, and professional standards to the use of information systems and communication technologies. (POs 2, 6)
Due Date
Graded Collaboration Cafés in Weeks 1-7 are due Sunday at 11:59 p.m. MT. For courses with Week 8 graded Collaboration Cafés, the Collaboration Café will close on Saturday at 11:59 p.m. MT. All Week 8 Collaboration Café requirements must be met by this deadline.

Paragraph one: Discuss why it is important for nursing professionals to perform a self-assessment in nursing informatics. How does a self-assessment in nursing informatics support your ability to stay current with evolving technologies and best practices to enhance client care and outcomes?
Paragraph two: Discuss two competencies that you identify as strengths. How do these strengths in informatics contribute to your ability to provide quality client care in your future role as a bachelor-prepared nurse?
Paragraph three: Discuss two competencies that you identify as growth opportunities. Growth in nursing informatics is a continuous process. What two strategies can you use to enhance your nursing informatics knowledge?

Participate: Participate during the assigned week. You are expected to meet the minimum participation requirement described below. You will receive a 10% point deduction in a graded discussion if you do not post at least two (2) times on at least two (2) different days during the assigned week.
