Alice is a 35 year old female who has requested a diagnostic intake due to concerns about her lack of energy and poor concentration. Upon evaluation, you find that Alice is employed as a nurse at a local nursing home. She resides at home with her two children, aged 15 and 12. Alice reports she left her long-term partner, and the father of her children one year ago, and since that time she has been less interested in social outings with friends and has spent most of her time when she is not working, sitting in front of her television, or napping. Alice reported she has gained 20 pounds in the last 3 months and has been feeling down and hopeless most days. She reported she feels like she will not be able to get her life on track and gain back her energy, and reports that it seems pointless to try to meet new people and learn new things. Alice denied any current or previous suicidal ideation and denied any past other times of similar symptoms.
