Apocalypto is a fictional representation of the Postclassic Maya set in the years just before the arrival of the Spaniards. For this paper you are to analyze the costumes and sets featured in Apocalypto in relationship to the art and architecture of the Maya, as studied in our course. Identify at least three art objects and/or structures you think may have been influential on the film’s creators. Address the similarities between the artworks studied and those featured in the film; also explain where the film’s creators took creative license. Finally, address how the Late Classic Maya are portrayed. Do you feel that the depiction is accurate or not; explain why.
