11652Human Resources Management calls for multiple conflict resolution within members of the same organization as behavioral misconduct is present in company’s employee rosters. Examples of workplace misconduct includes bullying and harassment. The US Workplace Bullying Survey (Namie, 2017) states that 19% of Americans have experienced abusive conduct at work and another 19% have been witnesses. A whopping 63% are aware that bullying in the workplace occurs.
Imagine you are the owner of a small local brewing company, with 30 employees and multiple clients who come everyday to enjoy of tasty IPA. Five of the employees are women and 1 man is disabled. Everyone works digilently to produce and distribute beer in peace and harmonious teamwork; however, there are two men that constantly make discrimantory comments and offensive remarks against women. One of the men has a fixed derogatory behavior against a young clerk, and even intrudes in her personal space, uses slang against her, and underminds her work by putting her down; the other likes to yell at the disabled man and making offensive remarks about his look and by humilliating him in front of others when making a mistake.
Some employees have noted the behavior of the two men, and have come to you for guidance.
