The purpose of this assignment is for you to get a closer-than-usual look at people who may be different than you and their activities. (I am a 50 year old, Black woman. I am a Christian/Baptist. I live in Jackson, Tennessee. I have 3 children and a husband).
Select an activity, event or place that you can visit and/or participate in that is a departure from your culture and its traditions. You can be as creative as you’d like. Some examples could include visiting a church or faith service different from your own, eating an international cuisine you’ve never tried before (at an authentic restaurant, not at home), participating in an event recognizing a tradition you’ve never experienced, or attending a celebration from a culture different than yours. The central point is something that you physically do to get involved in some way that is new for you that broadens your perspective about others who come from a different background than you.
