Rationale
This course aims to study, analyze, and clarify the law of higher education and how it affects legal issues and policies in higher education settings. An examination of the current directions in recent case law impacting policies in student affairs in higher education is examined.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the legal issues facing student affairs administration. 
Assess current policies with consideration for their origins as well as how current social and/or political changes may affect these policies in the future. 
Research, analyze, and present a higher education legal issue that has gained state and/or national media attention.  
Apply information from the literature to assess a current or recent legal issue facing leaders in student affairs administration.   
Develop strategies for dealing with specific legal problems from a moral and ethical position.
