Liberal Arts Education has a long history from classical antiquity to the present. With the 19th-century advent of universities offering academic majors and minors, the concept of generaleducation has emerged. Higher education leaders need to be familiar with these forms ofeducation and how they continue to evolve. These leaders also need to understand how variousforms of learning experiences can allow students to demonstrate that they have successfullyachieved liberal arts and general education learning outcomes as well as outcomes within aspecific discipline.
