HIS 332: Milestone Two Guidelines and Rubric

    August 9, 2023

verview: For this milestone, you will submit an annotated bibliography for your final research paper. The annotated bibliography should include at least five
scholarly secondary sources (books and journal articles) and at least five primary sources. Using a large number of sources will provide you with a deep pool of
resources to draw from when you make your argument in your final research paper.
The sources you select must clearly speak to the chosen topic. Good places to start are the recommendations for further reading at the end of each assigned
reading and in SNHU’s Shapiro Library, which contains a compendium of online sources. Also keep the following in mind:

  • Use the SNHU History Library Guide to guide your research of primary and secondary sources.
  • A guide to using the Chicago (Turabian) citation method, which is the standard for history papers, can be found here.
  • A sample annotated bibliography in Chicago (Turabian) style can be found here.
Requirements of Submission: This submission should use double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. The formal requirements for
the annotated bibliography are listed below.
  • Include at least five primary and five secondary sources. You should continue to look for sources to add to this list after you submit the bibliography, as
projects often change focus slightly as they progress. Ten sources must be included in the final paper, but it will ideally contain more, depending on the
depth and complexity of the topic.
  • Cite these sources in Chicago (Turabian) bibliographic format.
  • For each source, give a brief description (one to two sentences) of the source’s contents and explain briefly (one to two sentences) how it will be used in
    the final draft.
