History question

Read the short section of our textbook entitled “Navigation Acts” in Chapter 4.1 “Charles II and the Restoration Colonies.” How did the Navigation Acts attempt to restrict colonial trade and what is the British “salutary neglect” approach to enforcing those acts? After considering the British had used a salutary neglect approach to trade for generations, do you think it is reasonable for colonists to expect the British to adopt a similar approach to taxing them? Or do you think the colonists should have understood that salutary neglect was a courtesy and not a guarantee and paid the new taxes more willingly than they did?
his textbook has all of the chapters for both U.S. History I and II. It can be downloaded from this site: https://openstax.org/details/books/us-history. For this class, we will only be utilizing Chapters 1 through 15.
