The purpose of the mystery shop assignment is to give you the opportunity to apply what you have
learned by first visiting and then critiquing a real hotel operation. You are to identify a hotel, ‘shop’ the
business and then provide a report on your experience to help a potential guest decide whether or not to stay there. This report can be in a written format like a travel blog, in an audio format like a podcast, or video format like a tv segment report or vlog. You are encouraged to be creative in how you present your information! You do NOT need to stay at the hotel (although it can be a hotel that you stay at), but you do need to visit it physically. You may not pick a hotel where you currently work or have worked or stayed at in the past. The point of this assignment is to visit the hotel from the standpoint of a guest or hotel inspector using the knowledge you have gained from this course, hence the mystery shop.
