Paper 2 (Reporting Information: I-Search)
What is the assignment? For your second paper, you will be doing an I-Search project. AnI-Search paper is a bit like a traditional research paper—you will need to get online to find information about your topic. What makes it different is that you will discuss your findings in a narrative form (instead of trying to imitate the objective authoritative tone and style of an expert in a given field).
What should I write about? You may write about anything you’d like (provided that yourpaper does not become a how-to essay for something illegal ?). My main suggestion wouldbe to focus on a subject that genuinely interests you. Doing so will make research valuableand not just a burden for a school assignment.
How do I write an I-search paper? Review the materials in the course module labeled“Reporting Information: I-search Paper.” Look esp. at the various examples. As I mentionedabove, you will be writing a narrative, which should allow you to talk candidly about yourresearch instead of trying to impersonate a professor.
