Mr. Sanchez is a 42 y.o. Hispanic male presents with a nonhealing sore on his penis. The sore developed more than one month ago. He believed it was balanitis, which he had many years ago. He has self-treated with over-the-counter antifungal cream and then tried tea-tree oil, which someone said would help. It has progressively gotten worse. He says that it burns and stings and has some drainage that has stained his underwear. Patient has a 20-year history of diabetes, well controlled with Lantus, and his last A1C was 6.2. He is usually seen by another provider in your practice but was a “work-in” today.
