We have learned four theories of causation. Select one theory that you’re most interested in, and carefully explain it and try to defend the theory the best you can. Make sure you consider the strongest objections to the theory you are defending and respond to them.
How to evaluate theories of causation? All four theories we have learned so far have their own merits and problems, so we often need to determine the criteria of evaluation before we can make a choice. Woodward takes a functional approach to causation, and how do you think about it? Do you agree with him or not, and why?
