Writing Assignments – General Guidelines
Formatting your writing assignments properly is important (or you will lose points).
Use any word processor to complete your writing assignment but submit your final version on Canvas in the box for the appropriate assignment using doc, docx or pdf format only (I do not accept txt files)
On Canvas, you do not need a title page/name, etc. If you use a title page or list your name, class number, professor name, etc., don’t count these lines in your page count
Pay special attention to the required length of each assignment and/or part. Points will be deducted for any parts/papers that do not meet minimum page count
All assignments should be typewritten and double spaced with one-inch page margins (1” on each side)
Use proper font: 12 point Arial, Tahoma or Georgia font only

Write in your own words. Do not quote or use textbook definitions…use your own words to explain terms/concepts you use
Use citations/references if appropriate (citation page is not included in your page count). Do not plagiarize
Be sure to use proper headings as instructions indicate

*IMPORTANT: All Writing Assignments must be uploaded to Canvas prior to the date/time due. Use only pdf, doc, or docx format (do not submit txt files). No late assignments accepted.

Writing Assignment B: Adolescence (50 points total)
Total Required Length: 3 pages (1 page minimum per part) – (Use format guidelines or lose points).
All students must complete this writing assignment B OR writing assignment C
Chapter 6 on Adolescence discusses psychosocial development starting on page 218.  Reflect on your own adolescence and write a reflection paper that speaks to your own personal experience with identity development and psychosocial development as it relates to the following theories.  Use the theorist’s name and terms in each appropriate section…apply their ideas to your life experience of adolescence. Use headings of Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and apply each theory as follows:
Part 1 (15 points): Erikson’s psychosocial task of adolescence (identity vs. role confusion)

Part 2 (15 points): Marcia’s four identity statuses
Part 3 (15 points): Phinney’s ethnic identity development
Remaining 5 points awarded at instructor’s discretion for exceptional work
Do not just rephrase the theory or define terms.  Rather, reflect on your own identity development and apply the theory to your experience. Use your analytical and critical thinking skills.  Remember, this paper is a reflection of your identity development/formation during adolescence (approximately 10-18 years old).
